Emraan Hashmi, who has mostly played an anti-hero in most of his films, will be next seen playing the lead role in Azhar, which is based on the life of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin and the actor recently revealed his reasons behind giving his nod to the project.
Emraan said that Azhar is the only film so far, which was capable of challenging him as an actor and pushing him out of his comfort zone, which is why he was excited about being a part of this film. Hashmi further added that this is the first project, on which he focused for more than a year.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, N. P. Singh and Sneha Rajani under Balaji Motion Pictures and Sony Pictures Networks, the film is slated to release on May 13, 2016.
