Lady Gaga has inspired Jaime King to speak out.
The 36-year-old actress made a shocking revelation on social media after the Academy Awards on Sunday night, referring to herself as a "survivor" and thanking Lady Gaga for that emotional performance.
"Thank you @ladygaga," she wrote on Sunday, retweeting a quote from the pop star regarding a college rape statistic. "I finally felt a true healing from years of abuse as a minor in the industry. Time to be brave."
King further elaborated in an Instagram post, thanking her friends and family -- including husband Kyle Newman, pal Lena Dunham and "TS" (presumably Taylor Swift) -- for their support through the years.
"Thank you to myself to not choosing to not make this a cover story though that was what was suggested to me but to express from my heart to you all personally which felt the most honest way for me to speak," she wrote. "Thank you to my Soul, body, mind, emotions, my inner child, my younger self, I love you. It's a night of celebration, of change, of not being ashamed of your race, creed color, situation, circumstances and environment, or past. Now I am free, somewhat."
King estimates that she was about 14 years old in this photo and seemingly refers to her abuse with the words: "It started at 12. Peace Be Still."
