New Coronation Street boss Kate Oates hatching a plan to bring back old favourites in a bid to increase ratings.

The move could see the return of characters such as Julie Goodyear as Bet Lynch, Kevin Kennedy as Curly Watts and Thelma Barlow as Mavis Wilton.
Confirming the plans, Kate, said: “I’ve been tossing around a few ideas in my head about who will be back.
“There’s nothing I can really talk about yet. I’d need to talk to the writers first.
“I think Corrie has a strong cast but also a strong history. And it’s nice to mix and match.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what the writers are interested in doing and matching their ideas with mine.

“You think along similar lines. And I’m sure that’s true when it comes to bringing back popular characters.”
The announcement has already prompting speculation as to which of the show’s stars could be set to make a return.
Other names being rumoured already are Ken Morley as Reg Holdsworth and Bruce Jones as Les Battersby.
