Tian Liang welcomes ban on children in reality shows

One may think that China's recent ban on children below 18 years old from appearing on reality show would receive much opposition from its stars, but according to former diver-turned-actor Tian Liang, the prohibition is most welcome.

As reported on ECNS News, the 36-year-old actor, who joined the first season of Hunan TV's "Where Are We Going, Dad?" with daughter Cindy a few years back, stated that the exposure his little girl gained from the show affected her in a negative way.

Tian said that Cindy has been more interested in taking part in publicity activities rather than going to school since appearing on the show.

"Her mother was upset with what was happening. So now we have banned Cindy from joining any reality show activities," he said.

But Cindy's case was not the only kind of negative effect children experienced after doing such a show. Previously, another "WAWGD" alum, singer Gary Chaw, expressed frustration that viewers kept accusing his son of pushing Francis Ng's son Feynman down a flight of stairs during filming, which caused his eye injury.

Reports of such a ban sparked as early as January this year, when it was reported that the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television was worried over the potential problems caused by children finding fame at an early age.
