"Honor Thy Father" star, John Lloyd Cruz, has recently been selected as one of the three recipients of the NY Fest's Star Asia Awards.
As reported on Inquirer, the actor, who will be joining Korea's Lee Byung-hun and Hong Kong's Miriam Yeung in receiving the honour at the upcoming 15th New York Asian Film Festival, will also be there for the screening of the aforementioned film.
The actor is not only the first Filipino to win the award, but also the first Southeast Asian star to be awarded with the accolade.
Aside from Cruz, teen actress Therese Malvar will also be accepting the Screen International Rising Star Asia award at the event. Her movie "Hamog" will be shown at the fest as well.
In addition to the two movies, Mario Cornejo's movie, "Apocalypse Child", will also have its screening at the festival. The movie stars Sid Lucero, Annicka Dolonius, and Gwen Zamora.
The 15th New York Asian Film Festival will be held from 22 June to 5 July.
