Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit might soon have some new competition.
Caitlyn Jenner has filed a trademark to sell a cosmetics line — extending to fragrances, nail, and skincare products — in her name, according to both E! and TMZ. The latter reported that “Cait doesn’t have a clear plan on how or when she will break into the beauty business. She wanted to secure the trademark before anyone else got the idea."
Knowing the Kardashian-Jenner family, Caitlyn’s products will be on shelves in no time. The famously entrepreneurial clan’s stable of merchandise already includes plenty of beauty essentials. Besides Kylie’s planned nail polishes and already successful Lip Kit, which repeatedly sells out, the model’s older sisters Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé have a line, Kardashian Beauty, that’s sold at Ulta Beauty stores. Just this week, Caitlyn’s daughter Kendall announced that she has created a custom eyeshadow palette for makeup giant Estée Lauder that goes on sale at Sephora next month.
Caitlyn, 66, embraces makeup and has raved about the glam squad that she uses for her show. In an interview with Time last year, she explained her approach to appearance.
"One thing that has always been important for me, and it may seem very self-absorbed or whatever, is first of all your presentation of who you are,” she said. “I think it’s much easier for a trans woman or a trans man who authentically kind of looks and plays the role. So what I call my presentation. I try to take that seriously. I think it puts people at ease. If you’re out there and, to be honest with you, if you look like a man in a dress, it makes people uncomfortable. So the first thing I can do is try to present myself well,” she continued.
