‘Game of Thrones’ Premiere: Emilia Clarke Promises ‘Kick-Ass Moments’

Daenerys Targaryen will find herself in unfamiliar territory in Season 6 of “Game of Thrones.”

At the close of last season, fans saw her get swallowed up by a Dothraki horde after fleeing Mereen on the back of her dragon, Drogon.

Emilia Clarke, six seasons into playing Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons, is discovering things alongside her popular character.

“I think every season she learns a little bit more, and then this season she’s out of things to learn, she’s having to use everything she’s learned and put them into action,” the actress told TheWrap. “It’s a wonderful experience getting to see that side of her.”

As she’s back with the Dothraki, that also means speaking the fictional language that she left behind after Season 1 of the show.

“Honestly, the single most challenging thing was the enormous amount of Dothraki. It’s tough,” she said. “Maybe I’m getting older, because it’s getting harder [laughs] … You get familiar with a language, but when you don’t know it …” she explained.

“It’s a language, it’s verbs and adjectives and male and female and all of it. It’s a fully, fully formed language, and when it’s given to you by lines — I don’t get given the dictionary — you just have to remember those lines.”

As usual, Clarke remained tight-lipped about revealing what’s to come for her character this season.

“There’s a couple of kick-ass moments,” she teased. “Some character interactions that are really fun, not only for Daenerys but for me. There’s some huge set pieces and those were liberating.”
