As reported on On CC News, the actress, who has been on hiatus since the birth of daughter Xingxing in December 2015, will join David Oyelowo, Chris O'Dowd, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as a team of astronauts and space station crew who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear.
The movie, to be directed by award-winning indie director Julius Onah, is produced by JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions.
Zhang's manager revealed that the actress is currently in the early stages of discussion for the movie.
