Alden Richards: Enzo Pineda not a 'rival'

Although Enzo Pineda is courting onscreen partner Louise delos Reyes, Alden Richards says he does not consider the “Time of My Life” star a rival.

“I don't consider him as karibal kasi, for me, trabaho lang yung what I have with Louise e. It's just really work. Professional relationship. I have no plans to go beyond e kasi parang masisira yung samahan namin if I go beyond,” the Kapuso actor said during the press conference for the Candy Fair '11 earlier this week. “And at the same time, maraming magiging complications pag pinursue ko yung more than friends na relationship.”

The budding Kapuso leading man has admitted liking his “Alakdana” and “Tween Academy: Class of 2012” co-star in the past, but explained that he decided to give up on pursuing Louise for the sake of their friendship and their career.

“Kasi ayoko na rin ng conflicts e. Mas maganda po kung smooth na lang yung takbo,” Alden explained.

Alden is also confident Louise will prioritize work over her lovelife.

No longer a “tween”

Alden said he is surprised to be one of the celebrity Candy Cuties of Candy Magazine this year, alongside more established young stars such as Sam Concepcion, Robi Domingo, and Elmo Magalona.

“Kasi before naman po, I was just part of the regular Cuties so I didn't expect na this year kasama na ako sa top ten celebrities,” he shared.

Asked what he thinks makes him “cute,” the young actor answered: “Yung dimples ko po talaga. Yun po talaga yung pinaka-magnifier. Parang dun po ako nakikilala sa ngayon, sa dimples. Parang, Alden Richards, then may kakabit na dimples. Yung dimples po talaga, ang laking ng tulong.”

But he added: “It's a big deal pa rin, yung personality. It counts talaga aside from the physical appearance. Personality talaga, number one yun.”

Is he planning to take it up a notch by being a Cosmopolitan Centerfold next year?

“Siguro po, we'll see,” he said.

This doesn't mean, however, that Alden is not preparing himself physically.

“With regards sa katawan, magsisimula na po ako pero not yet on gym. Siguro yung mga sculping, sa treatment pa lang po. Sa gym siguro pag nagka-time na po, kasi ang dami pong project na binibigay ng network, wala na pong time makapag-gym,” he explained.

Alden also said he wants to slowly getaway from his current “tween” image.

“Last 'Party Pilipinas' po, (Sam Pinto and I) did a production together. Sexy prod nga po e. So parang, tinatanong ko po sina direk Mark (Reyes). Tanong ko kay direk Mark, 'Ganun na ba ako? Sa mga sexy prod na ba ako nakakategorize. So sabi, di naman. Para lang maiba,” he said. “Hindi na rin ako tweens, 18 na po ako e. Next year, 19 na. So somehow unti-unti na akong umaalis sa tweens image.”

After “Tween Academy: Class of 2012,” Alden will be seen in the upcoming movie “The Road” with Louise and Rhian Ramos, among others. He will also be part of this year's “Panday” for the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival.

“Ang bilis po e. Talagang... I don't know. It's a really good blessing. And then, yung trust na nakuha ko from the network, sa mga bosses ko po, sa GMA Artist Center, sa GMA network, parang ang bait po nila sa akin e,” Alden said of his status as the Kapuso network's future leading man. “They really put effort on me to be their future leading man, sabi nga po nila. So talagang very thankful and they can count on me that I will do my best sa lahat ng projects ko.”

The Candy Fair 12 will be held September 24, Saturday, at the Megatent Events Venue ALDUB.
